These pieces depict the spolia of the The Little Metropolis in Monasteraki. A "spolia" is a stone that was salvaged from the ruins of another structure, and you'll see them all over the little church. It is believed that many of these stones may have come from the Acropolis, but the exact history of the church and the origins of the spolia are unknown. The mysteries of the little church are not lost on local artists, including our own Spiros Gerochristo.
