Protection and Connection

The great chain of Constantinople stretched across the mouth of the Golden Horn to block enemy ships from entering the city's sheltered harbor. Anchored at the Tower of Eugenius in Galata on one end and the city’s sea walls on the other, the massive iron chain could be raised or lowered as needed. It stood as a symbol of Constantinople’s ingenuity and resilience—a line of defense forged not only in iron, but in the will to endure.
“Alysis” is the Ancient Greek word for chain. Chains are made up of interconnected circles with no beginning or end.
Like everything in the world that is eternal they symbolize a common destiny, the bonds between people, connection, wealth, power, brotherhood and protection.
